Meet Ami Watkin.

Ami Watkin founded Watkin Legal to help small business owners, entrepreneurs, coaches and influencers address their legal needs in an accessible manner. Ami brings big law firm experience to an entrepreneurial practice, working closely with clients to translate legalese into plain English and achieve results.

Ami has counseled companies in every stage of the corporate lifecycle: formation and governance, routine commercial contract negotiation, debt and equity financings, and sales or acquisitions.

Ami began her legal career at DLA Piper in the corporate finance group before moving to Morrison Cohen LLP, where she further developed her general corporate practice, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and the advising of emerging and midsize companies.

Before working as a lawyer, Ami was a marketing and communications consultant, helping nonprofits and progressive companies tell their stories through traditional media and online campaigns.

When she’s not lawyering, Ami spends her time meandering through Brooklyn, cooking her way through the farmers' market or heading south of the border to find the most beautiful textiles and ceramics she can get her hands on.

Ami earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and holds a B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Vassar College. She's admitted to the New York bar.

Pronunciation help: Ami is pronounced Ah-MEE, though she will routinely respond to Amy when picking up a take out order.
